Welcome to Clip-Knix Nigeria

Dignity, Independence and Innovation

clip-knix front fastening underwear

Clip-Knix was founded in the United Kingdom in 2018 with a simple belief: what we wear should support our independence, dignity and quality of life.

The company began with the development of our patented adaptive front-fastening underwear, designed to make dressing easier for people with limited mobility. What started as one innovative solution has since developed into a broader vision: creating practical, inclusive and sustainable underwear that addresses real everyday needs.

Our Values

From the beginning, Clip-Knix has been guided by dignity, independence, inclusion, affordability, sustainability and ethical business practice.

We believe good design should be accessible. Products created for disability, menstruation or incontinence should not compromise comfort, appearance or dignity. We also believe businesses have a responsibility to consider their environmental and social impact from the materials they use and the waste they generate to the people and communities involved in making their products.

Clip-Knix UK

Clip-Knix UK is where our journey began.

Our experience in the adaptive market also revealed wider unmet needs. This has led Clip-Knix to expand beyond its original adaptive underwear and develop solutions for menstruation and incontinence, while retaining the inclusive design principles on which the company was founded.

Project Dignity

The next chapter of our journey is Clip-Knix Nigeria and Project Dignity,  our plan to establish local manufacturing in Nigeria.

Project Dignity takes the values and innovation behind Clip-Knix and applies them to two significant everyday challenges: access to affordable menstrual products and dignified, reusable solutions for incontinence.

Rather than relying solely on imported or disposable products, our vision is to manufacture reusable underwear in Nigeria for Nigeria, Africa and international markets, creating employment, developing local manufacturing capability and reducing dependence on disposable alternatives.

Our current product range comprises:

Clip-Knix Pink lace period pants
  • Reusable Period Underwear comfortable, washable protection designed for repeated use.
  • Adaptive Reusable Period Underwear period protection combined with our accessible front-fastening design for people with limited mobility.
  • Reusable Incontinence Underwear washable protection for women and men experiencing bladder leakage or incontinence.
  • Adaptive Reusable Incontinence Underwear  combining absorbent protection with easier dressing and greater independence.

One Company.

One Purpose.

Although Clip-Knix UK and Clip-Knix Nigeria represent different stages of our growth, they share the same purpose.

We are building a company where innovation meets inclusion and sustainability , creating products that solve practical problems while helping people live with greater confidence, independence and dignity.

From an adaptive underwear innovation founded in the UK in 2018 to a growing range of reusable menstrual and incontinence products and our ambition to manufacture at scale in Nigeria, our journey continues to be driven by the people our products are designed to serve.

Why this symbol is important to Clip-Knix Nigeria

Clip-Knix Underwear

The butterfly tells a story that goes beyond menstruation. It represents the entire journey of womanhood and reinforces our commitment to supporting women through every stage of life.

From a young girl’s first period to a mature woman’s changing personal care needs, Clip-Knix Nigeria seeks to provide sustainable, accessible and innovative solutions.

Our reusable period underwear, reusable incontinence underwear and patented adaptive front-fastening designs reflect this commitment.

A woman does not lose her beauty, worth or dignity as she changes. Like the butterfly, she continues to evolve.

Our Brand Philosophy

“From her first transformation to her final flight, every stage of a woman’s life deserves dignity, comfort and freedom.”

Clip-Knix Nigeria.

Every Stage.

Every Woman.

Every Wing.

Funmi Lawal MBE was born in England and had a stroke soon after childbirth at the age of 35. She experienced first-hand how reduced mobility can rob an individual of independence and dignity. Then ‘I couldn’t walk, bending down was painful and putting on underwear felt like a battle’. As a result of the stroke, I developed kidney failure which led to dialysis and eventual transplant in 2011. I saw a chance to help people with limited mobility and have spent years designing and testing clip-on knickers that will ultimately transform the lives of millions

I received to a Bachelor’s degree in Economics, a Master’s degree in Analysis, Design, and Management of Information Systems (ADMIS) from the London School of Economics and Political Science, and a professional qualification as a Prince2 practitioner. I have worked in the UK Civil Service for a decade, gaining valuable experience across three continents: Africa, Europe, and Asia.

As a trustee of the Royal Free Patient Kidney Association, an Advisor for billion-strong, and a member of Meaningful Business, my passion for helping others has been the driving force behind this enterprise. I am an Ambassador for Lady Rebel Club, I addressed MP on the eve of Kidney World 2023 and I was a guest speaker at Naidex 2023. I was named F:entrepreneur 2023 #ialso10 and featured in numerous national newspapers and magazines. Metro online,  mail online, mail on Sunday online, The Mirror, myLondon News, Voice Magazine, Theorator and Kidneylife.

Why Clip Knix™

To me it is not just a business enterprise, it is my passion for wanting to help others as I have experienced the same in life.My aim to see many people live independent lives as much as possible and positively.

The consequential application that arose from the product, such as pregnant women camping, hiking, bedroom antics etc was not primarily why it was initiated but initial reason was to help people with limited mobility.

Intelligent and Empathic Design

In collaboration with Innovate Product Design based in Salisbury, Clip-Knix focused on designing and manufacturing a practical yet fashionable underwear solution for women that negated the need to bend or stretch when dressing.

Product Description

Our design and research teams worked relentlessly. It was a seemingly non-stop process of ‘design, test, improve and test again’.

This wasn’t just about creating a practical product. Very often, these types of products look boring and feel uncomfortable. We wanted to give you something that was comparable to what you find in a high street fashion shop.

The result is underwear that can be fastened in the front without the need for bending or turning sideways.

The range will revolutionise the lives of many people by:

  • Offering stylish underwear that is easy to use
  • Preserving independence
  • Maintaining dignity
  • Reducing the risk of injury

The priority market for Clip-Knix is for those with limited mobility. However, during the R&D process we identified that the product would also be beneficial for anyone who needs to discreetly change in less-than-accommodating locations, such as an airplane bathroom or whilst hiking up a mountain. Careful and robust research has informed the development of a highly effective and attractive range of underwear that will ultimately work for everyone.
